HOW THE COURSE WORKS
This programme is supported by Creative Skillset’s Film Skills Fund, with BFI’s Film Forever National Lottery funds. VFX HE Online Mentoring Programme is a two-part online learning platform for 2nd Year undergraduates who have a passion for visual effects.
The idea behind this year’s VFX HE Online Mentoring Programme is a new step forward for VFX in higher education to help students understand the ‘big picture’ of working in the VFX industry.
By providing detailed information about the inner-workings of VFX Facilities, including VFX pipelines, standards and the roles of individuals, students will be equipped with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of how VFX facilities work as well as hard and soft skills required by potential employers.
In part one of this programme, you will have access to 22 exclusive, pre-recorded, self-learning videos from industry heavyweights; The Moving Picture Company (MPC) and Framestore. In addition, we have also invited some Artists from Oriental DreamWorks to contribute to the project in 2017. We believe it is for the first time that two world-leading VFX facilities share the same online platform contributing to the UK VFX higher education. The videos take you through the process of each company and will provide you with real-life examples of how the VFX industry works in each of these world-leading visual effects facilities. Each video is scheduled to run on a specific day.
In part two, you’ll participate in live Q&A sessions with a total of 13 professionals from MPC and Framestore to answer your potential questions of each self-learning week and consolidate your learning.
HOW LONG WILL THE VIDEOS BE AVAILABLE?
Once you’ve completed the course, videos will be available for a further two years (until August 2019), including video recordings of the Q&A sessions so you can reference and refresh your industry learning at anytime.
